I understand the point that the defense lawyer was trying to get across, but lame doesn't begin to describe it.

The only murder juries I sat on were for cases I had never heard about. Nada. Zilch. I could easily sit and listen to evidence with a mind free of pre-conceived opinion. I think you'd have to be living under a rock to have not heard about this case.
All both side can pray for, in this case, is people were being honest when they said they could keep an open mind. And the the jury hasn't over-estimated their ability to do so.
