A Christian academy in Georgia put a significant dent in a 12-year-old girl's dream of one day earning a college football scholarship when the school's CEO allegedly cited the Bible and middle school boys' lustful thoughts as reasons for removing her from the team.
Locus Grove (Ga.) Strong Rock Christian School CEO Patrick Stuart told Maddy Blythe, 12, "that men and women are created equal but different, and he said that he prayed about it and it was the wrong thing to do," Maddy told WSB-TV. "I think it's kind of crazy and I think it's very archaic and he needs to get with the times."
While Blythe still appears in a team photo on the school's website, the coach reluctantly informed the Blythes that their daughter "would no longer be able to play" despite his best efforts to convince the CEO otherwise, CBS Atlanta reported.
"It's like taking my dream and throwing it in the trash," Maddy told 11Alive News.
Still, Strong Rock Christian athletic director Phil Roberts submitted this e-mail statement to the local NBC affiliate: "Our official policy is that middle school girls play girl sports and middle school boys play boy sports."

(41,694 posts)1. I'd say the lustful thoughts are in the administration's heads.

(29,047 posts)2. Seems like they think the boys are the problem.
They should have kicked the boys off the team.

(22,143 posts)3. This is dumb.
When I was in grade school we had a girl on our team and she was badass.
Now, this girl is never going to get a football ride to any school but it's dumb to not let her play now. I think the problem lies with the adults rather than the kids.

(12,778 posts)4. It's a private school.
Their athletic policies are their business.

It's the hypocrite Christian way!
Pity it never occurs to them to teach boys what to do with all those lustful thoughts. Self control just never enters the picture for their little boys.

(10,362 posts)7. She should be allowed to play until she can no longer play
It's technically possible for a girl to be a college kicker, never heard of one getting a free ride.
A shame that she had her dreams crushed so early.
