(WTF?) Texas Republican finds cure for rape!

Move over, Todd Akin, because believe it or not, someone has actually surpassed his "legitimate rape" idiocy. Meet Texas Republican (of course) Rep. Jodie Laubenberg, who had this to say while denying an exception for rape in the draconian abortion bill Texas Republicans (of course) are in the process of jamming through the legislative process:

In the emergency room, they have what's called rape kits, where a woman can get cleaned out.

Well, sure, a rape kit is practically a restore-your-virginity card. It's like a day at the spa ... assuming your spa experience includes a vaginal and anal swab and a pubic combing. What rape victim would ever need an abortion after enjoying a few cleansing hours of that?

And soon after Laubenberg's remarks, the Republican majority—many who "had flyers on their desks that read "Psalm 139:13-14," which reads in part, "You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made"—cut off debate and approved the bill. (The final vote is expected later today and it will then go to the state senate.)

wait until the ones given "abstinence education" come of age and get in!

This horseshit is why we desperately need comprehensive, factual sex education classes in the schools. Parents are too bashful to do the job and preachers are too ignorant. These bozos listened to their equally ignorant peers when they were teenagers and haven't listened to anyone else since.

Are passing laws that effect women's lives and health.

It's sickening that this woman is making important decisions when she doesn't even know what a rape kit actually does.

would have stepped up with testimony from ER workers who actually use the rape kits, maybe the manufacturer too.

I can't really say I 'understand' when men make stupid remarks about how reproduction works, but I'm going to have to assume that the majority of women know about their bodies more than the average male.

She's an idiot.

Oh, and I'm sorry, but that Psalm is just creepy, "...I am fearfully and wonderfully made." Fearfully???? WTF?
