NSA director says he has ‘no opinion’ of WikiLeaks, ‘I really don’t track them’

National Security Agency Director Gen. Keith Alexander said Sunday that he doesn’t track or hold an opinion of WikiLeaks, the anti-secrecy group apparently aiding the travel of Edward Snowden, the man who recently revealed information about sweeping U.S. government surveillance efforts.

“I have no opinion on Wikileaks. I really don’t track them. I really don’t know who Wikileaks are, other than this [Julian] Assange person,” Alexander said on ABC’s “This Week With George Stephanopoulos.”

Google Handed Over Emails of Wikileaks Volunteers to U.S. Government

On Tuesday, Google sent an email to the two former Wikileaks associates, informing them of the existence of the court orders, which until May 2 were secret. There is no official confirmation that the orders are related to the Wikileaks investigation being conducted by a federal grand jury in Alexandria, Virginia, but every sign points in that direction.

After receiving secret court orders, Google handed over data from the Gmail accounts of two former Wikileaks volunteers to the U.S. government. The orders, revealed on Friday by the two targets, are a snapshot of the rumored federal grand jury investigation into Wikileaks and its founder, Julian Assange.

The targets of the court orders are Smari McCarthy and Herbert Snorrason, both from Iceland. McCarthy is an Internet activist and computer programmer who worked for Wikileaks until 2010. Snorrason helped manage the whistleblowing's website chatroom for two months in 2010.

So he didn't really lie...

He was talking about his Dell PC at home tracking wikileaks not his agency.

Agency would even bother making such a weak, easily parsable statement.

these positions, that everyone in charge, in power, or deemed an expert were merited and truly the cream of the crop. If it was ever the case it isn't anymore, but I am believing more that it never was. Idiots ascend the ladders all the time and we just assume they have the brains.

NSA isn't even a law enforcement organization.

"The Government" is not one big undifferentiated mass, and Federal Law Enforcement doesn't have the discretion of passing things on to the NSA that the NSA seems to have to pass on to law enforcement.
