My friend Mary, whom I wrote about on Wednesday (http://rudepundit.blogspot.com/2013/06/a-brief-vignette-from-possible-death-i.html …) got a new liver and is now in recovery. Go, science.

who can to sign up to become an organ donor.

There are still plenty of people out there on waiting lists.

Better to let the medical professionals make that determination, than to preclude all hope of your organs being useful to someone by not signing up to be a donor.
