the job creating, gilded free enterprise forebears of Paul Ryan allowed a million people to starve while the country was an exporter of grain and meat. Don't think they wouldn't do it here and blame the starving for it.

Like in Africa where the English took the land away from the indigenous people and used it to grow cash crops.

And in Cuba where the corporations own practically all the land and the Mob owned Havana....I remember that the sugar companies owned 90% of the land.

Yes it could happen here...and is well on the way.

Homeless, put the kids in foster care, and they'll get a few meals, anyway.

Mom better join the church and find a man!

Returning to those lovely years before HUD, social security and food stamps.

Thanks, libertarians.

a car with value up to $5,000 was exempt.

Me, I got bounced from the $110 a month that my income qualified me for, because I still owned some land that I bought for $4,500 back in 1987. The equity in my bookstore (perhaps $5,000 as well) and my store inventory was not counted in the calculations.

Other states my have different rules, and rules may have changed, but that's what I know of the rules in Wisconsin in 1995. A year I was also denied unemployment.

I am a socialist, and can't stand when the terms "liberal" and "socialist" are conflated.
