1% problems: Ann Romney rails against gov't inefficiency, upset her $12M mansion renovations are delayed in red tape
Romney finds her political voice decrying inefficient government permits delaying renovation of $12 million beachfront pad
.... The wife of the former Republican presidential candidate addressed the San Diego City Council on Tuesday, urging the local government to efficiently process construction permits, an issue of concern as the couple try to renovate their $12 million beachfront pad.
Looking California chic in a white blouse and khaki slacks with her hair pulled back, she took the podium to address the city's noticing procedure for coastal development construction permits.
"I urge you to make sure that stronger protections are put in place so that in the future, permits are processed efficiently and correctly and the public is afforded the proper notice and opportunity to be heard," she told the City Council members.
The Romneys own a 3,000-square-foot home in La Jolla.
The couple want to tear down the 75-year-old structure and replace it with a home nearly triple the size that includes plans for a car elevator, which became an object of ridicule during the presidential campaign.
The Romneys have lobbied hard to acquire the proper permits to renovate the residence.

Voting for Obama was worth while if just to keep THAT (Mrs. Mitt) out of the Whitehouse.

Thank you, Daily News, for covering an unserious, insulting story in an unserious, insulting way.

The California coastal Commission is separate from SD city council.
SD city council trends progressive and towards social justice.
Damn, I missed the comedy.
I wonder if Tod Gloria reminded her of the coastal commission role in this?

That's pretty much all they care about, themselves and their property/stuff. Boy do they get into a froth about it, too, stamping their foot, bewildered why the world doesn't revolve around them.
