1)The Democratic Party
2) The Republican Party

or really one reason: those who hold the power will never give it up.

placing political leaders in power.

It's still relatively young of age, if we were along the same evolution as airplanes, it would be comparable to Charles Lindberg's Era.

You have to remember anyone going to school in the 80s or before weren't exposed to the Internet, that part is changing with each passing day.

Thanks for the thread, Th1onein.

How do you think Karl Rove stocked all positions in all states for so long now?

Bottom up.

The trouble with protest candidates is they want to be President or want to run against the wrong person.

Find a local position, run for it.

Ralph Nader himself could have won a house seat, then a senate seat.
He made a run he knew he couldn't win, just to have a long $$$ private career(instead of the public service one that say, Al Franken did, who gave up millions in tv and movie paychecks).

BTW, that is what some of the famous protesters in the 1960s did- they ran for office, some won, some lost.

and IMHO, Dr. King would have run for President or VP eventually had he been alive (perhaps in 1976 or 1980 or 1984).

As with any job, one doesn't get out of school and become CEO. One starts at the bottom and works their way up.

And no 3rd party candidate ever came close to winning the presidency, however, so many ruined the dreams of someone else by spoiling things.

And oh wait a minute- DU supports democratic candidates don't they???That is why I am here.

but if 1000 democratic nobodies ran for some office, I bet 50 would win, and from that 50, then another, then another, eventually there would be 100s and 100s.

The key is NOT giving up with one loss, but again and again running, and eventually winning.
Marquee candidates who don't win, normally never try again.
Fall off the horse, one needs to dust oneself off and run again

(btw-that is the genius of President Obama asking Hillary45 to be his SOS and the genius of Hillary45 not to sulk off and leave the arena whining, but to take the job, do the damn greatest job any SOS in history has done, and now in 2016 reap the rewards in what will be the biggest landslide of all time with the most popular votes of all time IMHO
