We are all terrorist suspects now

Not sure if anyone posted this yet.

Source: Salon.com

In our current understanding of “probable cause” – whereby it applies only to warrants against specific individuals suspected of criminal activity – the Florida congressman is undoubtedly right (as is the ACLU, which has filed a federal lawsuit in the aftermath of the Snowden disclosures). However, that current understanding is really what’s at issue here. That’s because in claiming the FISA court’s mass-surveillance warrants comply with the Fourth Amendment, the NSA, the Obama administration and Obama partisans are by definition arguing that the NSA has a legitimate “ongoing” probable cause to conduct mass surveillance. That is, they are effectively claiming the government has a legitimate “ongoing” probable cause not to believe specific individuals may be engaging in terrorist activity, but instead to believe all of us may be engaging in such activity.

It sounds that is how Bush and now Obama have setup and operate our spying systems. avaistheone1 Jun 2013 #2

I guess I should have been a lawyer instead of an engineer.

Shameful, but good for the big corporations like Carlyle Group.

AND If it's good for Carlyle Group, it's good for the country. Maybe Feinstein could arrange for that sentiment to be placed on our currency.

If any American called outside the US, their call was "monitored". If you called a number of times, or said certain phrases or words, you could be placed on Bush's terrerists list...Simply for talking on a telephone to friends or family overseas or across the border in Canada or Mexico.

I believe the gov't then issued "National Security Letters" that Bush's brains decided were constitutional, a simple demand to release the information requested...The reich wing screamed at the top of their voices when this was discovered: "If you have nothing to hide, what are you afraid of !" "You are either with US or you are with the terrerists!" "Why do you hate America?"
