NFL announces limits on what fans can bring into stadiums

The NFL, in the interest of public safety, Thursday announced a policy that limits the size and types of bags that may be brought into stadiums this season.

About all that will be allowed are clear plastic bags smaller than 12 inches wide, or one-gallon Ziploc-type bags, according to the league.

That means women attending Chiefs games at Arrowhead Stadium will have to leave their purses at home, unless it is a small hand-sized clutch bag. And fans will need to put their wallets, glasses, cell phones and other personal items into plastic bags if they can’t carry those items in.

The NFL Committee on Stadium Security in May unanimously recommended the implementation of this measure with the hope it enhances public safety and makes it easier for fans to get into stadiums. It was discussed with all 32 clubs at the May league meeting and will be implemented at all NFL stadiums beginning with preseason games.

Prohibited items include, but are not limited to: Purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage of any kind, seat cushions, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size.

Seriously? Why would I want to go then? This is about food and booze nothing at all to do with safety. this is about you spending money on food and booze instead of bringing your own.

People used to bring in KEGS to niner games at kezar. My Mom, even at the last game she attended (4 years ago) brought her usual feast for the in game munch out. Home made beef jerky, some friend chicken and cheeze-its.

5. The NY Mets baseball, have had these policies for a decade, and as any NYC person would tell you

for maybe 40 years now, entering Madison Square Garden, one is frisked.

Why?

Well back then they were looking for tape recorders and booze

So, we always knew, if you don't like, we didn't go. It never stopped me, nor was I bothered by it, it was part of the
experience.

And now, in NYC after 9-11, damn right do I like the precuations.

Wish they put in protections so that zero guns would be in the streets by any individual not on duty police.

Why would anyone want to bring a gun into a football game or bar?

7. I don't have any issues with this. The better half hates having things to carry at stadiums

then either has to carry them to the restroom or food booths or someone has to watch it.

We stopped carrying anything unnecessary into these venues a long time ago

Seats in arenas are small enough without people dragging their whole lives in with them. As far as smuggling in food and drinks, I've never needed more than the lining of my coat to smuggle in what I need for a game.
