It is the beginning of a regional ME war between Sunni and Shia. Throw in the Israelis for added "fun". Lots of potential for WW3 in this one.

The whole point of them getting one would be a deterrent, and it's not much of a deterrent if no one knows about it. Unless of course you actually believe that they are so suicidal that they would try to use it. They saw what we did to Iraq, they are trying to avoid the same fate.

n-korea proved it as fast as they could, its the only way a country can limit US meddling in its internal affairs?
the previous head of the IAEA was also pretty clear that iran was not developing nuclear weapons, he was very unpopular for obvious reasons. the new head of the IAEA toes the US line without question, which is not a surprise if you are aware of wikileaks

In November 2010, British newspaper The Guardian reported on a U.S. diplomatic cable originating a year earlier in Vienna and supplied to the newspaper by WikiLeaks, detailing a meeting between Amano and an American ambassador. The author of the cable summarized a statement by Amano in which the latter offered that he "was solidly in the U.S. court on every key strategic decision, from high-level personnel appointments to the handling of Iran's alleged nuclear weapons program." In March 2012, Amano was accused by several former senior IAEA officials of pro-western bias, over-reliance on unverified intelligence and of sidelining sceptics

one of the top officials directly responsible for negotiations with iran resigned recently as well, the press reports suggest its because of tensions within the IAEA regarding iran.
