http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2012/02/10/422744/walker-settlement-budget/Yesterday, 49 states joined the federal government in announcing a $26 billion settlement with five of the nations biggest banks over the banks foreclosure fraud abuses. The money from the settlement is meant to aid homeowners who lost their homes to foreclosure or who find themselves underwater, meaning they owe more on their mortgage than their home is currently worth.

Walker is going to put in the budget to deal with "Short Fall".
BTW that settlement is a FREAKIN joke! Government LET those bankers get away with murder.
I say They SHOULD have had to pay that MONEY + FORGIVE ALL FORECLOSURES. Meaning people get to keep the homes and the interest rate for those home should have been lowered to like 1%.

(24,159 posts)2. To be clear, he's diverting the bribery portion of the big con from the AG to the budget
The state AG's all got big chunks of cash in exchange for signing off on the scam. Walker is just stealing from Van Hollen, not homeowners.
It's the American Way!

Zilch for anti-smoking efforts, everything for state politicians' pet projects.

(62,683 posts)4. Why don't we include rules that the money HAS to go to whatever it is they're getting it for?
After TARP, you'd think they'd get a fucking clue that they'll just take the money. Why no oversight?
