He's like a lone raisin in a bowl of rice pudding.
Poor fellah.

please people... grow up.

(25 posts)because it reflects back upon society. Yeah, it may be used as a way to attract minorities to the party-and? What was Geraldine Ferraro's pick as Veep about? Same thing!
Tolerance is a liberal trait. More is needed here!

(73,631 posts)And the wingers push these clown out front of everyone as a cover for the racism, bigot and misogyny that they promote.
It's pretty shameful.

Sure, why not?
Freedom to self-hate should be every American's God given right.
I don't get it but I'm sure the guy finds something in that party he likes OR MAYBE nothing in the Democratic party he likes. I have friends who are black (me too) who are conservative republicans because they are evangelical anti-gay marriage church people.
It's a very very old friendship. She used to be a Sermon on the Mount kind of Christian. Then she got married and moved to a conservative area and became one of them. If she and I met now, we wouldn't have enough in common to become good friends. But we go way back and I love her dearly. She also has a very dear friend who is gay. She has nothing against him but it's the marriage thing she can't get past.

(346 posts)it have sounded better if I said that he was one of the black kids hired by Dinglegrinch to scrub the toilets?
My sarcasm must be too much for you. Kind of like the joke about what do you call a pretty woman in West Virginia? A tourist.
It is highly unlikely, and nearly impossible to comprehend that a person of color would be attending a bigot convention. Hope this helps you sleep better tonight, but I doubt it...........you seem to be wound up awefully tight today.
redqueen
(115,103 posts)That joke mocks women from WVa for being sterotypically viewed as unattractive.
The one you made mocks black people for being stereotypically viewed as hired help.
I see a big difference there myself.

(16,350 posts)He's just a right-winger. I know you didn't mean that the way it sounds.
I meant was that seeing a person of color at a bigot convention would leave one to think that he is being used. Sorry if my sarcasm went over your head.

(85,998 posts). . . those folks can be cruel. Hope he has a big Romney sign to cover him on his way out. He could get hurt.
the sad thing is there is truth in your jest. He could get hurt. Some of the 'elders' in that room would have lynched him, in their younger days, without a second thought.

if all you want it to be listened to
if you are black--don't go to the dems
a face in the crowd
go to the repubs
you will stand out
people will listen to you because they want to say
"you know i met this most interesting negro at our convention last night"
he can token himself onto
perhaps some committees
he can token himself into a better spot at the dinner table
he can make connections
he can meet the right people
dumb????

(53,339 posts)I was looking for the conspicuous negro--my own version of Where's Waldo--amongst the April 15th tea baggers (with a hope that I wouldn't find one). Alas, why must there always be one person of color willing to play poster child and pet for these Right Wing demagogues?
This lost soul was seen tea bagging outside the Bristol, County Courthouse in Bristol, Tennessee...Tennessee? one would think that being from the South he would know better.
Quick thought: doesn't he look like Apollo Creed from Rocky IV? Second thought: how many times will Fox News show this mascot as a way of insulating the April 15th "protesters" from the charge of being a group of right-wing, populist, racists?

But, between you and me
I'm sure that he's just another Black conservative.
And when it comes to greedy, delusional, self-hating assholes who wouldn't condemn a right wing bigot for their racism even if they were wearing a Klan robe, you just cannot beat Black conservatives at their own game.
So, I'm sure that the guy felt right at home with the CPAC crowd.
