What percent of the electorate pays attention to the election before September?

Just curious what people think. By electorate, I mean people who are either registered to vote or who will be registered in time for this November? I realize there is a slice of Americans who absolutely can't be bothered with politics or voting no matter what.

So excluding those people, what do you think? Are there only 50% of those who will vote actually engaged before the big "roll out" of fall campaigning in September? Or is it less than that?

No big reason to ask other than it is interesting to see what all of these issues really mean to the vast majority of voters--especially the large middle who haven't already made up their mind to vote for Obama or whoever isn't Obama.

seriously, I think it's a very small percentage , probably 20% or less who really pay attention..
