The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development analyzed education rates in its member countries and found that the U.S. is below average in the relative number of 25- to 34-year-old workers who have a degree in so-called STEM fields such as science, engineering, computing and statistics.

And they either come back as H1B workers or go back home and work for outsourcing companies.
Sputnik made us reconsider, and rebuild our educational system. Now, we're being 'Sputniked' every day, and we're not responding!

They would rank low in STEM graduates/100,000 employed, but they would have very large absolute numbers due to their population size.
