(60,010 posts)Of course it is a bit dated now. but the Underwood character seemed to have more menace in the Brit version.
both shows are fun to watch.
And I hear there is a 2nd season coming!

(60,010 posts)while the Amer. version is only the first 1/3 of the entire story.
So if you watch the Brit version, you will know "the ending"
but
the American version may not be as faithful to the Brit version
which is why
I am content to watch the Amer. version as it unrolls, having seen the Brit version first.

(2,650 posts)One thing that immediately stands out is how contemporary the 23-year old program feels.
I'm looking forward to catching the American version.

(13,360 posts)is that Underwood is a Dem! It's one of those things where you don;t realize what party he is unless someone says it out loud... but the aggressiveness, the 4 dimensional chess, it's fucking off the hook!
(I guess we aren't so used to seeing aggressive, strong Democratic leaders....huh?)
...and I keep waiting for that reporter to get caught... she's too much of a rookie, she's gonna get rolled sooner or later...

(12,041 posts)He is the worst type of Blue Dog, a person who cares nothing for the people who voted for him and is far more concerned about his personal ambitions than he is about any issues. He will backstab people in his own party and leak dirt to the Republicans if it helps him get ahead. He wears the label of Democrat, but he is really more of a stealth Republican.

(27,445 posts)Can't wait for Season 2 which won't begin until February.
It's the antithesis of The West Wing. The West Wing seemed to be about how we wish politics was and House of Cards is what we can only hope it is not.

(28,078 posts)I discovered it right after I got my Bluray player. Thank heaven I could stream it, I would have gone nuts waiting for new disks to arrive - though I went through withdrawal when it ended and can't wait for the next season.

(26,219 posts)Hard to imagine DC working any other way. Spacey is doing an amazing job with that character.
At the last Washington Correspondents Dinner, they did a video spoof of the show with him in character before Pres Obama spoke. It was quite clever.
