So many on both sides of the aisle continue to demonize the poor...

They're more interested in degrading poor people by telling them how to spend their money, food stamps, how many kids they can have and not have, how much medical care they can have and so on.

I've seen this garbage with the RW noise-makers who demonize the poor and want to regulate every aspect of their lives. Off and on I read it here on DU.

It's not just disgusting. It's degrading and humiliating.

While corrupt companies rake in billions in tax cuts and other kinds of corporate welfare, many on both sides of the aisle would rather nickel and dime the poor over their spending habits and more.

I'm sickened by the hypocrisy.

There was a contingent here insisting that the people of Oklahoma deserved the tornadoes.

Sad to see this kind of embarrassing conservative thinking on the pages of DU.

said that people of oklahoma DESERVED a tornado

there was an argument about whether they deserved federal aid after denying it to NY/NJ after sandy

which is actually substantially different from saying anyone deserved a tornado

"I would say it's punishment for the willful ignorance for Republicans letting CO2 get out of control. As we know most Conservatives don't believe in human contributions to climate change. So this is their punishment. Too bad the tornados can't sweep up just the deniers. "

There were others in that thread that thankfully deleted their posts after being shamed into it.

You DO know that a large minority of Oklahoma Residents voted DEMOCRATIC in 2012?
that a large number of Oklahoma residents are innocent children?
Punish them ALL and let gawd sort it out.

"there was an argument about whether they deserved federal aid after denying it to NY/NJ after sandy "

Do you realize that anyone who uses this argument to deny humanitarian aid to ANYBODY has stooped to their level, and become one of "them"?

Here is another one for you:

Still think no one said anything like they deserved the storms?

I also rec-ed the OP.

Edit to add: 500,000 people voted for Obama in Oklahoma. I bet that is more than in some of the smaller blue states.

But as long as people like the hypocrisy, it will continue.

There is a fraction of people that get a "moral high" out of it. They think they are teaching "less the decent" people how to live right.

What those people do not understand is that the stereotype of the poor and the homeless is a legend now. We have people with B.A and B.S's out there. Even some with Doctorates. They have had good jobs and did all they were supposed to do with money. But do to one event or another have fallen to the status that those "Moral Crusaders" call "Less than Decent".

Since my "Fall" I have had to deal with this all the time. It does make it worse on mind to be treated as if I was "not a good person" just because I fell on hard times.
