This is the second or third day in a row the Turks have protested. The government is cracking down hard (no doubt with their experience with cracking down on the Kurds). It's really messed up and I am alarmed no one is talking about it.

9. The Turks are upset with Erdogan's neo-Ottoman ways.

He and his ruling AK party believe in interventionist ways in the parts of the old Ottoman Empire, especially Syria. It is not popular with most Turks and they are now showing their discontent. The Syrian civil war is definitely spilling over into neighboring countries.

I honestly expect a regional ME war within a few months at most.

I am definitely worried, I have a friend in Istanbul.
