My new Facebook page, recording instances of accidental & pointless shooting deaths

0oops, or "Sorry I Shot You" (although many stories involve "Sorry I shot myself" stories). The tone is dry and factual. The content is, and will always be, just a little heartbreaking.

I'm looking for some likes. I'm wanting to just highlight all the pointless deaths & injuries resulting from our gun culture. It can be a bit depressing, so you've been warned. But I want raise awareness.

If I'm gonna suck away time on FB, I might as well do something with some social utility to it.

but I have an account there, somehow, to look in on family and friends.
I just went there and did my first "like" ever, and it was on your post.

(I suspect it will bring me another "star member ignoring me, long with blocking my private messages" or two, every time I speak up against gun violence and working to combat it I get a new one LOL)

I don't do self plugs on DU much, but this seems to be a way to keep telling the story of how, fears about black helicopters and liberal gun confiscation conspiracies aside, it's our ignorance and not our government that's killing us. All the stories about the toddlers killing themselves has simply gotten to me and I had to do something.

I had a drug addicted brother whom I was helping. My 3 year old (now much older and grown, thank God) found a loaded gun under his pillow.
I had no idea there was a gun in my house.
Both brother and gun were evicted post haste.
It still cramps my body to think about this happening.

Our ignorance is doing us in on many levels.
Sad- so sad.

Looks interesting.

Just heard a statistic tonight that shooting deaths since Newtown have already exceeded the American deaths in the Iraq war.

At what point do all these deaths start to make a dent in America's INSANE gun culture?

"Liked" your page and I'm glad I can do my part to contribute to the conversation. I have a few right wing nutters I converse with on facebook and I'm happy to spread the word on the insanity of the gun culture.

Eventually it adds up--kids getting guns, drunk families or drunk friends getting angry in their stupors and getting violent... This is not how the NRA frames the debate, but it certainly is the reality of how the prevalence of guns affects American life.
