What conservatives really are

Little people with little minds. From Cal Thomas' cruel and nasty remark about Rachel Maddow to the audience who thought it was an appropriate, indeed, funny thing to say. From the wars they wage on women and children to their battles with those who actually work for a living. I am convinced that most conservatives are small of mind and mean of spirit, totally devoid of the compassion gene.

What drives these people to be so repugnant? How, in 2012 can they so totally embrace their racism, homophobia and mysogynistic views? It makes me wonder how they were raised, how they were treated as children. Were they the ones picked on in the playground? I would almost feel sorry for them, if it were not for the fact that they are so nasty.

4. Well, at least in the case of my brother and father...they are both conservatives because

they are both end-stage alcoholics and have the profound brain damage often seen with alcoholics - especially in the part of the brain that deals with logic and reasoning. They are not only wrong on all their political stances, they are wrong in pretty much all their life choices. For instance, my brother chooses to be homeless instead of cutting out the booze in order to pay for a room to sleep in. He thinks it is a great decision on his part. Brain damage that comes with alcoholism. And given that there is a real problem with alcoholism and alcohol abuse in our nation, I would not be at all surprised to see that a big proportion of conservatives are alcoholics. In my own life, and I know anecdotal evidence is worthless, but....every conservative I have ever known has had a drinking problem.

5. Kind of makes sense.

Conservatives basic world view is one of fear of change and with the world constantly changing all around them I'm sure many want to escape into their bottles.

6. Nixon's southern strategy started the idea (which Rove took to new levels) of

demonizing others to fundraise, consolidated the base, and get out the vote. Since then, everyone has taken a turn being the cause of america's downfall:

government officials and employees

unions

teachers

soviets

black people (dukakis campaign)

brown people

LGBT

atheists

muslims

french

germans

San Franciscans

Liberals of course

Chicagoans

Venezuelans and Chavez

those in need of a safety net

environmentalists and those that profit isn't the only factor in decisions

elite windsurfers (democratic ones)

those whose pay was deferred in lieu of pension contributions (private or public)

vietnam vet war heroes (democratic ones)

immigrants of a different color

Massachusetts elected officials (elite democratic ones)

Chinese (see Hoekstra ad)

those who think gun control laws are appropriate

those who think the idea of intellectual and physical commons isn't a marxist communist plot

if you belong to one of these groups, any rw rhetoric is fair because THE ENDS JUSTIFY THE MEANS. Lying and deceiving are necessary to them because they don't really have popular support on the individual issues and in their minds democratics support all thats evil and un-american (see above) and must be stopped at any cost. That's what got Delay and Gingrich into trouble (aside from unbounded arrogance)...they believe that cheating is fair in love, war, politics because the reign of republicans is needed to save the country.

7. They really think the white racists vote is going to get them elected,

which makes them crazier than we think.
