Toilet paper stink gives way to Mass mess in Venezuela

http://www.caribbean360.com/index.php/news/venezuela_news/737954.html#axzz2UtCyefER

As the problem of shortages spreads from the kitchen to the bathroom and on to the Church, the government insists that an opposition-led conspiracy is to blame. CARACAS, Venezuela, Friday May 31, 2013 – With shortages of everything from staple food items to toilet paper raising a stink in Venezuela, the government may soon find itself facing the wrath of God – or His representatives on earth – as supplies of Communion wine and wafers dwindle with no apparent salvation in sight.

---------
" Bodegas Pomar have told us that they can no longer make wine because they're facing difficulties," Church spokesman Monsignor Lucker told BBC News.

----------
"The makers of consecrated bread have told us that they'll have to raise prices because they can't find enough flour. Wheat is not grown here; it all comes from abroad," he explained.

---------
Paradoxically, the country with the largest proven oil reserves in the world endures a level of shortages unimaginable in far poorer Caribbean countries.

Growth pains.

More people than ever can afford toilet paper. Thanks to Chavez.

Are you against people being able to afford toilet paper?

It is not produced in sufficient quantities in Venezuela and currency controls make it difficult for importers to obtain it. Its the same for many other basic products in Venezuela. Insufficient domestic production, price controls, and currency controls. Thanks to Chavez.

Why you hate the idea that more people can afford toilet paper shows you are just blowing... something.

When more people buy stuff, it causes a shortage. Basic economics. How old are you?

No other country in the region has the price controls and currency controls like Ven with the exception of Cuba who also have persistent shortages of basic products.

Even poor households in latin america have toilet paper unless you live in Venezuela.

You are another of those who have an empty journal.

And like Cuba, the US capitalists have been economically torturing Ven.

And you are proud of that?

Hell, Chavez was giving poor people in the US heating oil. I guess you hate Chavez for that?
