The Right Freaks Out As GOP Poll Finds 20% Of Republicans May Vote For Obama

A major freak out is occurring on the right as a new poll released by a Republican polling company has found that 20% of Republicans are more likely to vote for Obama.

The poll done by Republican polling firm Wenzel Strategies for World Net Daily found something similar to my own recent analysis of state polling data that the 2012 election is beginning to look like a replay of 2008. The Wenzel/WND poll turned up the surprising statistic that no matter who the Republican nominee is, one fifth of the Republican voters surveyed are leaning towards voting for President Obama.

The only Republican candidate who doesn’t lose at least 20% of GOP voters to Obama is Ron Paul, and he loses 19%. The poll found that 54% of those surveyed believed that Obama had exceeded or lived up to their expectations, and 47% said that he had not. Sixty percent of Independents thought Obama has met or exceeded their expectations as did 52% of moderates. In the head to head match ups with all voters polled Obama leads Romney, 48%-41%, Gingrich, 50%-36%, and Santorum, 49%-34%. Ron Paul fares best against Obama and he trails the president, 44%-40%.

I would not be surprised if there's an awful lot of sheepish expression, ***look both ways**** then pull the lever for Barack on the part of the GOP!

They've lost the heart to defend the 2012 GOP clown car, can't say I really blame them.
I've tried to leave them alone, no point provoking them to defend out of stubbornness, and mainly just debate the louder ones who haven't quite figure out that calling the President names just isn't working any more.

in my neighborhood has disappeared. Signs, don't tread on me flags, bumperstickers, the works, all of it. These people have actually gone to the work of removing the bumperstickers. None have apparently switched sides and are still probably R voters, but the tea party bit has seemingly become embarrassing enough that they no longer want to display it to the public. While they probably still are R voters, none of them even had a candidate sign up for the FL primary.... Some of these folks were no doubt among the 400,000 R voters that did not show at the polls for the primary.

I sense buyers remorse.

The biggest problem Republicans have right now is Republicans just aren't going to show up to the polls. That means Republican Representatives and Senators both state and federal are going to have a tough time. So not only do they lose the Executive branch, but they are going to lose everything else as well.

That I have always believed set him squarely in the middle. The far right claims he is super liberal if not outright socialist, the far left has made claims that he is too far to the right, the reality has to be somewhere in the middle and I believe this is what will catch the moderates who are registered republicans.

Think of how tiresome for them to be "shocked and outraged" about once per week. On cue, they must fein moral indignation.

The sensationalism has limitations. One of them being the "up and down" emotional toll for just believing your leadership. Just how often and how severe can you hate Obama? It has to wear on you.

Making Obama a "one term" president is the GOP mandate. They think they can win with that. They think they can pick on Women, Unions, Gays, and the poor because hating Obama gives them the cache. They think that it is empowering to hate Obama. That such hate allows them to reach a little more.

This is why they are going to get their collective asses handed to them, across the board, in November.

The party continues to move to the right in order to pick up these "moderate" Republican voters. Carter, Clinton, now Obama, all have governed increasingly from the right, leaving the left out in the cold.
