Speaking of the SCOTUS- Do you think an opening will be available before 2014? This could be a wasted opportunity, given a possible GOP Senate takeover in 2014. If this were to occur, a solid liberal nominee might not stand a chance.

Especially if Reid finds his spine and actually holds the Republicans accountable for a change. If they have to vote, they have a record to defend. With no votes, it's easy to blame someone else.

I'm thinking positive thoughts that the Democrats will get the House back, no one seems to like Boehner.

... but I think Justice Ginsburg probably will NOT retire until after the end of April 2016, see below

August 3, 2010

Although some have speculated she might step down next year, the 77-year-old Ginsburg told The Associated Press on Tuesday she has no plans to retire anytime soon and still wants to match Justice Louis Brandeis, who stepped down at age 82.

Justice Louis Brandeis was on the Supreme Court of the United States from June 1, 1916 – February 13, 1939 - 22 years, 8 months, 2 weeks
Justice Ginsburg has been on the Supreme Court since August 10, 1993.

So, if she wants to beat his 'tenure' then she couldn't retire until the end of April 2016

That would still leave enough time for President Obama's to appoint a new justice and get him/her confirmed before he leaves office January 20, 2017.
