General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsYou know I've been thinking..These Catholic nuts have are all up in arms over birth control
which, by the way, is often used for other medically necessary reasons that women ABSOLUTELY have, outside of contraception BUT I notice that these same f#ckers haven't made one peep about borken d*ck medicine,,,(cialis, viagra, etc). "Erectile dysfunction" meds are FAR more likely to result in "sinfully related activities" than B'C, ever would be.
I noticed they keep screaming religious freedom about birth control but NOT ONE PEEP about broken Dyck medicine. I'm sick to death of the hypocrisy

That's not going to happen if one is trying to put a marshmallow in a piggy bank.

(18,186 posts)Most menopausal women won't get pregnant no matter how many deposits you make "in the piggy bank."
So if you're a man married to a menopausal woman, sex with her is sinful. Sex with your fertile mistress is also sinful. So why would you need Broken Dyck Medicine unless you are SINNING? Fornicating? Adulterating?

(18,101 posts)Masturbation is also a sin.
They believe in miracles, so anything is possible.

(11,304 posts)with families. Birth control is a woman's decision. For me I took it for a short time. I didn't have a good reaction to it. I went ahead and had my baby. After that my husband got a vacatomy. I had a very hard time carry a baby at the age of 32. I was so sick the whole 9 months only gainning 3 pds the last month.

(6,960 posts)It is just their leaders.
And the members have NO real power over their leaders.
It is an authoritarian hierarchical organization. The Roman church is not a democracy the way Protestant churches are i.e., the members elect their organizational leaders and representatives.
After all the scandal in this organization and the increasingly extremist conservative bishopric ... well, how do nominal and everyday Catholics stay a part of this church?
This controversy really shows the huge disconnect between the clergy and the members -- 98% of sexually active adult Catholics reject by their behavior church dogma on contraception.
Very strange and hard to understand in a country based on the concept of democracy and freedom of conscience.

(11,304 posts)I don't go to organized church any longer because I don't like the way the church has gotten involved in politics. I do watch on ocassions mass on the catholic channel. I still pray every night and ask god for blessings for all of us and my own family. I still say my rosary. I just can't leave my church. I can't help it.

(4,840 posts)set aside money for faith based initiatives (charities)? Religious institutions didn't seem to have any problem with tax money from secular tax payers going to their own activities and causes. But when it's a cause or activity they disagree with, they claim their freedom is being violated.

(62,444 posts)Dick pills fix something that isn't working the way it normally works. Birth control prevents something from working the way it normally works.
Insurance companies used to make the distinction that way.

I said INSURANCE COMPANIES used to make that distinction. Understand that? Is that some news for you?
I am not an insurance company, and yes, they used to cover BC pills for unusual conditions even when they did.
