"The Catholic Church does not oppose the use of contraceptives for medical reasons, said Dennis Poust, a spokesman for the New York State Catholic Conference. Some of its plans, including that of the Archdiocese of New York, already provide such coverage, he said."

I know they oppose the use of condoms to help prevent AIDS/HIV.

Some young women who are not (and do not intend to be) sexually active are still prescribed the pill to deal with monthly pains. The church wouldn't oppose such a use (by my understanding).
