Deja vu. The last time I was on the DU we were going to war with Iran.

And that was like five years ago. Maybe more.

What if we rattle our sabres and Imadinnerjacket says some nasty stuff about us and threatens to do something bad and we do some more sanctions and everybody talks about war and nothing happens?

What then??

Are we going to war with Iran? I doubt it. Now, Israel might, but they're right there. The US had meddled in the Middle East quite enough, and has failed every time to accomplish anything of value. Let the Middle East solve its own problems.

When they start rattling sabers however it is important we speak out and say NO. We need to make it clear we will resist any attempt to go to war and if no war happens then that is a good thing. If no war happens then we can all move on with our lives, the question you should be asking is what happens if we do go to war? The answer to that question is not pretty, I would much rather see the answer to what happens if we don't go to war.

cause they are some scrappy suckers. I don't think the US or Iran would really want to get into a full scale war because what is the upside in that for either of us?? We can't afford it and they would really NOT like to be bombed back to the middle ages. I am not up on this a whole lot, but I am thinking that if they sink a US battleship it would be on like Donkey Kong and they know it. I feel like everybody is going to walk a tight rope between posturing to save face and actually being seriously threatening for awhile.

At least that's what I am sincerely hoping.

The hundreds of billions we would spend on a war would en up in the pockets of some very powerful people. The military contractors and the politicians they have bought want war in Iran just like they wanted war in Iraq.

Everyone talks a lot about war with Iran, because it seems to be a popular thing to say. But in reality (so far), they know that this is not a war we want. Iran is a huge country. We should not even be trying to paint them into a corner.

War, huh, what is it good for?

I agree with you, this particular war is the very last thing Obama wants. He has proven to be surprisingly quick on the draw when it comes to using the military, but he really ISN'T stupid. Can you imagine gas prices if we go to war with Iran??? And I don't give a shit if we are at war, no President is going to get reelected if we are paying $6 for gas. And Iran doesn't want to be a greasy spot in the desert. But everybody wants to look tough, so they stomp around and talk the talk.

Just hoping it stays that way.
