Eight-term Republican wants Sandy Hook photos off limits.

HARTFORD -- Senate Minority Leader John McKinney has become the focal point of negotiations that will likely lead to a special exemption in the state Freedom of Information Act for families who lost members in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre.

After days of on-again, off-again talks with Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's office and Chief State's Attorney Kevin Kane, the eight-term Republican from Fairfield, whose district includes Newtown, said he's working for a "very narrow" exemption that will keep graphic photos of the 20 dead children and six adults from ever being released.

McKinney said last week's draft legislation will likely be edited further over the next few days. It's not traditional newspapers and TV stations that concern him, but rather, bloggers and others who could use the photos to push their pro-gun or anti-gun platforms.

Why would someone want to see graphic photos (crime scene) is beyond me...however I do recalll a certain chorus of GOP'ers want to see bin laden death photos.

the only way we will get any kind of gun control is to have those photos released and used in campaign ads against people like Kelly Ayote.

It should be the familys' calls, but I for one would do what Mrs. Till did and let the world see what happened.

Wasnt the Bush administration behind restricting citizens from seeing the coffins containing American soldiers- killed while fighting for the money and oil of well-connected Republican donors?
Right wing extremism is like a festering wound on our liberties- and hate-filled goons like this character are doing their utmost to destroy American freedoms exemplified in the 1st amendment by insisting that Americans cannot understand the true tragedy that is in those pictures of bullet-ridden innocent victims. So this extremist wants to destroy the 1st amendment and freedom of the press in defense of the extremist interpretation of the 2nd amendment.
Why do teabaggers hate freedom? Why do teabaggers seem to get so much enjoyment from knowing that thier gun fanatic legislation will lead to the murder more children?
But if we pretend there are no pictures of the mass gun slaughter, it will be easier to convince teabaggers and other low IQ voters that it never happened.

I support the non-publishing of the children;however, leave it up to the parents. Perhaps some good can come out of the tragedy if it spurs action on gun control. BUT, fair is fair, how about stopping the publishing of aborted fetuses being waved in front of TV cameras at clinics or shown to pregnant women seeking an abortion for whatever reason.
