Revoke tax exempt status for all religious institutions, and use the revenue to fund clinics for those employees who choose to want access to said clinics. Clinics would be free of charge and subsidized by the increase in revenue.
Voila.

(592 posts)I hear all this BS about how religious organizations being "Forced" to participate in something they don't believe in. Well I don't believe we should be supporting any religious organization through tax exemptions. Especially when I see the Mega churches leaders living life in the 1%.
It's a business like any other business. Yet I am "Forced" to accept my tax money supporting them.

(4,775 posts)What's the reason for religious institutions to be tax-exempt anyway? I can't think of any that I would agree with. And even if there was a good reason, this benefit for religions has been abused for years. They are often politically active with their religion and their money, even though that violates the terms of their tax-exempt status. They push it way way too far, violating the spirit if not the letter of the law. Revoke it already. And K & R to this OP.

(7,309 posts)Maybe send it to the pundits ... and let them play with the football. I think just a threat of the revocation would change some minds ... maybe not.
But it would bring the issue of tax exemption into the national dialog, which can't be a bad thing.
