so poor Manny, our other Maine Coon rescue has been king of the house for a while. Time for him to get a new play mate.

Please DON't adopt if you will ultimately lose patience with your own inability to work with the pet, and will instead stuff it in the backyard for life.

In other words, as much as shelters need help, DON'T adopt unless you already wanted a pet, not just because a post on a board suggests it. Those not properly prepared and truly wanting a pet, usually, imo, do more harm than good, and as an article last month pointed out, many end up returned to the shelter, Xmas dogs was what the article was about, but the idea is the same, giving or getting an animal that one isn't really committed to having and loving doesn't work out well.

The one in the picture above?

If it is, then I have to ask, what makes you think it's a "honey," it could very well be a "gremlin" in it's personality? And in today's economic climate, many are having to abandon their beloved pets. There is no assistance for pets or their owners to keep them, and if one has lost their house, cats aren't easily kept in a homeless state compared to dogs.

Both of my cats were rescues from a local (no-kill) shelter and have been the best friends I have ever had.

Rescued animals are special and they know how good they have it when they find a loving forever home.

have them in separate rooms right now, had a little hissing episode - and a nose touching moment. then a little more hissing a little later. guess we'll need to go the isolation, gradual intro route.
