In what may be one of the most 'aww'-inducing stories of the day, two sick dogs from Corpus Christi, Texas, made their way to a human hospital and waited patiently in the lobby, KIII TV reports.
According to the station, hospital staff treated the "emaciated" pups, and a doctor carried them to the station's van, which then transported them to the Gulf Coast Humane Society.

Precious little things, I hope they get homes. I so love dogs, and cats, and basically any innocent creature.

(51,666 posts)it's been my experience that most physicians and nursing personnel have less knowledge about veterinary care than the average American. They DO have hubris and think they know it all far too often.
Don't get me started on the animal neglect and abuse I have seen at the hands of human medical personnel who should know better.

(7,670 posts)and not just one like human doctors. Granted I'm not sure what type of treatment the puppies got at the hospital, most likely fluids and possibly food. I'm glad the medical staff transported them to the humane society, where they can get proper treatment. I would hope they are smart enough to know their own ignorance and not administer any medicine without consulting a vet first. Dogs are biologically similar to humans in most ways, but there are differences(mostly in dosages) and some medications that humans can take, dogs can't, or they react differently to, etc.

(14,549 posts)called the local media, waited for the cameras and then drove them to the Human Society. Now do you really think he could have done all of that without 8 years of medical school???

The family had been living in a truck and the children begging for food but social services deemed the kids weren't suffering from abuse or neglect so they never followed up on reports from community members.
