SPARTANBURG, S.C. —A Spartanburg woman is under arrest after police say she shot and killed her boyfriend with a 12-gauge shotgun. Erika Michelle Sutelman, 21, who lives in the apartment where the shooting happened, faces one count of murder, according to arrest warrants.

The shooting happened Monday about 5:45 p.m. at the Crown Point Apartments on Powell Mill Road, according to a release from Capt. Regina Nowak, with Spartanburg Public Safety.

When officers arrived, they found Moholland on the floor of an apartment with a gunshot wound to the chest, Nowak said. Officers tried to give Moholland aid, but he died at the scene, according to Nowak.

Sutelman told officers she had a brown and black Mossburg 12-gauge shotgun in her hands as she and Moholland were playing around in the apartment, according to the incident report. Sutelman said she thought the safety was in the on position, so she pulled the trigger and the gun fired a single shot at Moholland, the report said.

4. With all of the recent accidental gun related deaths, murder gets a lot easier

to carry out.

Shoot the person in the living room, place the frantic call, and then claim it was an accident.

8. Yeah, I've always thought that...

Especially the whole "Our five-year-old snatched a loaded gun from under the bed and accidentally shot mommy/daddy" -story...Because no one is ever sending a five-year-old to jail, and cops won't ask a grieving family uncomfortable questions...

I know the vast majority of those stories ARE true, but that's still almost a murder-for-free card for those smart enough to exploit it...
