Oklahoma Senators DEMAND Offsets for Tornado Aid?

I HATE injecting politics into this discussion - doing the right thing shouldn't come with strings attached - but these right-wing BASTARDS wanted to "play" politics, first, putting conditions on the aid that would go to their Oklahoma neighbors.

Since offsets are what they insist upon, we, the people, can turn around and make demands on what shape those offsets should take.

And they should take the shape of a huge tax bill to Oklahoma's worst corporate fiends.

"But they'll leave Oklahoma!"

So what.

Who cares?

If they're not decent, moral, or RESPONSIBLE, corporate neighbors, they don't deserve the right to exist - so let 'em go... but only AFTER they've paid their taxes.

If they want to be that way, I say the offsets ALL come from other money that is earmarked for their state, especially Big Oil handouts.

That's all I can say. They will extort money from the country for aid
while using that extortion to deprive others.

"Tom Coburn and I don’t always agree on the issues.
But after we entered the Senate at the same time, our wives, Michelle and Carolyn, hit it off at an orientation dinner. Pretty soon, we did too. Since then, we’ve bonded over family and faith. And we’ve harnessed our friendship and mutual respect to find places where we can agree and work together to move this country forward.

The people of Oklahoma are lucky to have someone like Tom representing them in Washington — someone who speaks his mind, sticks to his principles and is committed to the people he was elected to serve."

Obviously Obama is selective and does not give a shit about SOME Oklahomans who are not lucky to have this man as Senator:
Coburn: ""Lesbianism is so rampant in some of the schools in southeast Oklahoma that they'll only let one girl go to the bathroom. Now think about it. Think about that issue. How is it that that's happened to us?"
"the gay community has infiltrated the very centers of power in every area across this country and they wield extreme power. That agenda is the greatest threat to our freedom we face today. Why do you think we see the rationalization for abortion and multiple sexual partners? That’s a gay agenda."
—Rep. Tom Coburn (R-Oklahoma)

Coburn's Chief of Staff is a bigot too:
“‘All pornography is homosexual pornography, because all pornography turns your sexual drive inwards.’ And if you tell an 11-year-old boy about that, do you think he’s going to want to get a copy of Playboy? I’m pretty sure he’ll lose interest… It’s a good thing to teach young people.”

~ Michael Schwartz, chief of staff for Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, speaking at Values Voters Summit

The tornado victims and America as a whole both win with this scenario. I dare Coburn and Inhofe to vote against this proposal.

Force the Twins to either a) accept aid generously offered by the American people or b) filibuster an emergency appropriation to their own state. If the choose the second option and the people of Oklahoma re-elect them, then the whole friggin' state is a lost case.

Oklahoma Republican Sen. Tom Coburn will seek to offset federal aid to victims of a massive tornado that blasted through Oklahoma City suburbs on Monday with cuts elsewhere in the budget.

http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/oklahoma-gop-sen-tom-coburn-will-seek-to

Coburn spokesman John Hart on Monday evening confirmed that the senator will seek to ensure that any additional funding for tornado disaster relief in Oklahoma be offset by cuts to federal spending elsewhere in the budget. "That's always been his position [to offset disaster aid]," Hart said. "He supported offsets to the bill funding the OKC bombing recovery effort." Those offsets were achieved in 1995 by tapping federal funds that had not yet been appropriated.
