I guess they think they're on top of the story, when in fact they're only getting in the way.

I'd love to see some cop or other authority figure come up and tell them to leave.

There is NO good reason for them to be there..

There are just taking up space and bothering people who have important things to do.

You can argue about the tastefulness of sending a politial commentary crew in, but no point overloading the criticism.

I would think there are designated media zones and they are likely in one so they are probably not in the way.

That said, I don't understand why THEY are there personally. They aren't journalists so they are not there to directly gather and report the news themselves. As far as I could tell there is no logical reason they can't be broadcasting from the NY or DC studio and cutting to Jensen and any of the the other actual reporters that were already on site.

Most likely, their presence is about making it possible to insert themselves into the story as demonstrated by Joe's repeated references to his having to live through tornados and hurricanes as a kid.

As long as they stay out of the way of people doing real work, by all means let them do the same job dozens of local reporters could do as well or better.

It beats having them back in the studio launching the daily talking points and pretending to have a substantive conversation about public affairs.

My guess....all newsers will exploit this tragedy to the hilt.

Within the first 20 minutes (6 to 6:20) I would swear he worked his personal life into the coverage no less than four times. "When I lived in Alabama a tornado did this, when I lived in Florida a hurricane did this , when I, when I"...etcetera, etcetera, etcetera..
