(20,819 posts)2. While heartbreaking and, indeed, heroic,
having grown up with teachers, and currently subbing myself, I can say that not only is this not a surprise, but that the vast majority of teachers would do the same thing. It's the nature of the profession. I know my parents and their colleagues would have done the same thing. Yes, there are bad apples in the profession and there are those who also would not have been so heroic, no profession is perfect. But that doesn't take away from the general specialness of this particular profession.
