I think you can remain anonymous until you claim the prize.., but then , you almost have to change your name & enter the witsec program

That's why I don't buy a lottery ticket every week. I couldn't take the disappointment on a regular basis.

when I saw that Dwayne Wade showed up at the Archbishop Caroll high school prom to make a young lady happy. Both of my Florida nephews attended that school. In fact it was brand new when the older one started school there and was one great experience for those kids.

7. I could never understand the whole lottery fever

My sister and BIL buy tons of tickets when they come up here. I don't know if they do the same at home but it really seems like a mania. I'm no mathematician but I know the odds are better of being hit by lightning than getting that one big payout.
I've known people that play daily and manage to come out ahead but for everyone of them there are probably thousands that lose to pay for that winner.
I agree with an article I read years ago that compared the lottery to just another tax on the poor.
Think about it. If you only have a few spare bucks but are being told day in and out that you could be the big winner, you don't notice the pain of the money you just threw away because you were sold the story that it could change your life.
People who are in economic stress are prime targets for a sales pitch for an easy way out so they are the primary participants.
I try and tell people that get into that lottery fever that anything you put in to it is just paying for someone else's benefit.
The odds are so far against you that you might as well throw the money down a storm drain.

I buy a quick-pick every couple of weeks. I can afford it, and I only buy a single quick-pick. I don't have a "system", and I don't "invest" dozens of dollars a week in it.

It's my way to keep alive some random chance in my life.
