But seriously Colin Cowherd used this to argue AGAINST unions.

Top athlete earners for 2013 is out.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/specials/fortunate50-2013/index.html

Here's the breakdown by sport in the US top 50: MLB (25), NBA (13), NFL (8), PGA (2), Boxing (1), Nascar (1).

So the sport with the strongest union even though it is declining in popularity pays its players better than sports with weaker unions or have no union. I know you're shocked. Even funnier ESPN talking head Colin Cowherd was talking how once again the list shows why unions are bad. Bad everywhere but for the people that people actually pay the money to see and thus generate the money for the industry's bank accounts. I'd go into his nebulous reasoning why it was bad but what's the point; it is the same race to the bottom arguments over and over. The list however shows exactly why unions are not a bad thing and sports guy talking head can't make the math go away.

and another annoying little fact is that those top earners are not in any way because of union membership. The base pay maybe but not the over-paid top earners.

His show is terrible. More like a Rush Limbaugh of sports.
