The IRS scandal confirms Tea Party view that big govt bureaucrats are protecting their turf

The IRS scandal is not so much a Republican versus Democratic issue.

The bigger problem is that it confirms the view of small government, less taxes, simplified tax code advocates that the IRS exemplifies Federal Government employees fighting to preserve the size, scale, scope, and power of their bureaucracies.

After all, what is more threatening to an IRS manager than proposals to close loopholes and simplify the tax code?

If most people could fill out their taxes on a postcard, we would need a much smaller IRS.

Thus it is in the IRS managers' interest to keep the tax code and associated rules, regulations, accounting procedures, etc. as complex and arcane as possible.

I have NO PROBLEM with that. I'm SURE we could draw up a prelimanary copy to float around at their rallies (and as soon as they saw what what was on it, they would screaming into the night. Be careful what you wish for, morAns).
