Williams, tweeted confirmation on Thursday that Malcolm Shabazz, the grandson of civil rights fighter Malcolm X, has died in Tijuana, Mexico. Reports surrounding the circumstances of his death are unconfirmed, but it is thought that he died from his wounds early Thursday morning after being either thrown off a building or shot in a robbery.

Malcolm Shabazz plead guilty to manslaughter and arson and was sentenced to 18 months in Juvenile detention after starting a fire at his New York home that killed his grandmother, Betty Shabazz. His stay was extended and he was released four years later. Years later, he told the Amsterdam News that he had not set the fire."
