The harm our military does to foreign innocents exists in this strange Limbo....

On the one hand we deplore it and condemn any and all who direct it. Somewhat.

And yet, let 1/1000 of it blow back, and we're ready to support whatever it takes to punish the offenders. Make that close enough to home, and I'm sure I'd be right there.

Almost like what our parents (or grandparents) must have felt when Berlin was bombed. Horrible those people had to die, but they do support Hitler. They're humans but only just.

Take for example slaughterhouses. Inhuman for the animals AND the most-likely-illegal workers.
