Why are so many regular people waiting outside the courthouse for the Arias verdict?

By regular I mean non-journalists. I could see waiting for a major Supreme Court judgment regarding civil rights or something really important. And why is MSNBC covering this???

and they have been since it started. I'm amazed at the number of people that have the time and the interest to follow this kind of thing on a constant basis.

You can bet that no matter what the verdict is there will be a million armchair experts taking to Twitter and Facebook to explain why it was the wrong verdict.

I wouldn't go out and stand in that heat and sun.

When the journalists on HLN put microphones up for people to speak - well, people say some stupid things.

I had to switch channels.
