By KEVIN ROBILLARD | 5/8/13 6:16 AM EDT
The two issues dominating Washington in recent months gun control and immigration are near the bottom of Americans concerns, according to a new poll.
Only 50 percent of Americans said reforming immigration should be a high priority in the Gallup poll on Tuesday and 55 percent said the same of reducing gun violence. Those two issues were at the bottom of a list of 12 presented by Gallup.
Instead, Americans wish Congress would focus on economic concerns. Eighty-six percent of those surveyed believe creating jobs should be a high priority, as should growing the economy. Also placing above immigration and gun control were making government more efficient, reducing poverty and improving education.
Another hot Washington policy topic, reforming the Tax Code, was third from the bottom. Only 59 percent said it should be a high priority.
The poll of 1,021 adults was conducted May 4 and May 5. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

I heard things weekly from my Democratic friends that spell disaster in 2014 in Tennessee because of the continued harping on an issue that has basically killed our entire state since 1996....
VP Gore was my Senator and was sane on this issue at the time, (1980's to 2000 or so), then imploded his reputation and credibility on this issue by flip-flopping like I have never personally witnessed in my political lifetime.
Just let it go guys....Unless we want to lose 25 house seats in 2014.
And this is coming from a fairly quiet member of this forum since 2004, (9 years and counting).
This shit will NOT fly with 60+ % of the United States that will crawl on broken glass to vote against us on the gun issue alone. That is until we can speak cognitively, unemotionally and knowledgably about an issue most cannot discuss without making assumptions about gun appearances and yet not understanding whatsoever about the details that ALL of my neighbors understand completely.
The south is not Hoboken or Detroit....Different world guys..

(12,287 posts)concerned about all those things pretty much equally and can't see why our government can't get more than a couple things done in a year or more.
I think that pro-gun voters, (both Democratic and Republican), will crawl over broken glass to vote for the pro-gun candidate....Or vote against whoever is the anti-gun candidate.
Or at least that's the way it is in Tennessee... I personally wish everyone would simply shut up about it, because it will end up killing us in the end.
It's all about voter intensity and apparently, the only Democrat with intensity is a Republican, (Bloomberg), who wants to punish Democrats that did not vote for the background check amendment.
Bloomberg will end up costing us a seat in the US Senate
