In a situation like that, I imagine the ties between the three were very tight. If any one escaped, how did they know the other two would be safe while they went for help? I haven't heard anyone explore that angle.

Those who suggest willing compliance deserve to be tested under the same conditions.

I have no doubt they told each one that the other women would be tortured to death if one tried to escape.
