Do you ever feel like you just don't have it in you to be passionate about every issue?

Like, not every philosophical conundrum. But literally every single political or social problem.

Just read the front page of GD and you'll see dozens of different stories that are totally worthy of your complete and total attention and anger. I want to address all of them. But it's so overwhelming.

You cant save everyone even if you try so you do your best everyday and accept that you will lose sometimes.

Pfft. Sucks to be you.

Equal attention to everything is impossible. However, too much attention to one or two things can blind you to the plight of others. Be aware of as much as possible, find a few things that really hit home to focus on and do your best not to step on anyone else's cause.

Compassion is the key, not the burden.

Then one day by the time I got to be what I used to call 'middle aged', I realized that I am quite literally living on the Planet of the Apes. 'Changing the world' is a multi-generational endurance relay race, not a wind sprint.

Thinking about national stuff just makes me mad, and there's not a whole lot I can do about it from here.

I'm in West Virginia and this entire state (minus the National Forests) is wholly owned by the coal and chemical industries, with the gas complex coming up fast from third place.

but we're fighting back, so it's worth the effort. Besides, we're a L-O-N-G way from Washington, DC. You're much closer. You can even drive over there if you want and protest on the capitol steps.

Just be prepared for scorn when you come into contact with someone who has a cause that doesn't match yours.

"What do you mean you aren't coming to the Save the Giant Squid protest?!"
