San Antonio Park police violently beat a woman who had walked into the wrong room at a gas station, then arrested her brother for trying to video record the altercation.
They also deleted the footage from her brothers camera while charging the woman with felony assault on a peace officer.
But her brother managed to recover the footage that contradicts the police version of the story.

(37,648 posts)It doesn't show anyone hitting anyone, although someone certainly hit her. And it is clear the woman is not alone...there's a whole group of her relatives and friends outside.
I think there's more to this story than meets the eye. She must've been in the stock room a long time...there were no police there when she went in...and then there was time for, what, the clerk to call police, for the police to arrive, and then to go to the stock room to where the woman was just coming out. Hmmmm. And she wasn't alone. It was a group of people who came with her...they were outside.
Still, no cause to bruise her up, if she wasn't resisting arrest. Couldn't tell from the video if she was or wasn't.

(17,064 posts)Also perhaps a bunker mentality..."us vs. them". Could be how they were trained or instructed by superiors. Could be problems at home they take to work. Could also be they're just authoritarian assholes.
I've met/encountered some good cops...they ARE out there. But you never hear of them speaking out or testifying against the bad ones. Thats too bad, because getting rid of the bad apples would generate much more respect for the remainder.
