A march on Washington with loaded rifles
A gun activist is planning a massive march on D.C., with participants' rifles illegally slung over their shoulders
By Alex Seitz-Wald
Libertarian activist and radio host Adam Kokesh is hoping to get 1,000 people to march on Washington on July 4 armed with loaded rifles. The plan, launched with a Facebook group today, is to gather on the Virginia side of the Potomac, where gun laws are lax, and then march across the bridge with loaded rifles slung over their shoulders into the District, where openly carrying weapons is generally prohibited.
This will be a non-violent event, the Facebook group warns, unless the government chooses to make it violent. Already, over 200 people have said theyll attend the march. Heres the message:
Kokesh is a former Marine who was discharged in 2007 after violating the militarys code against engaging in political activity while in uniform. Kokesh was highly active in the antiwar movement after serving in Iraq, participating in numerous protests and getting arrested on occasion.
He started an anti-government radio show as the Tea Party picked up steam and was eventually picked up by RT, the news channel funded by the Russian government that is often critical of U.S. policy, where he promoted both the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street in a worldview that some sociologists describe as fusion paranoia, a visceral anti-governmentalism that isnt limited to typical left-right divides.
He ran into trouble when he endorsed Ron Paul in the 2012 election, which led to an FEC complaint and his termination from RT, though employees have told me privately that there were other, darker issues.

(146,317 posts)allowed, and that will be made clear to these morons. They'll back off and it won't happen. Why? Because they're cowards as well as morons, as is typical.
They plan to "muster" at the National Cemetary. They'd be arrested then on the spot. A bunch of morons trying to carry loaded firearms into that place will not be tolerated. Firearms may not be carried in any national cemetery, except by authorized personnel. And trust me, none will be carried there on July 4. It ain't happening.

(146,317 posts)of their firearms from the very beginning. They plan to "muster" at the National Cemetery. Firearms are not allowed in any National Cemetery, and there are folks there who will enforce those strict rules.
These people are blustering morons. That is all.

(28,784 posts)So, not only have they (has he) stated a plan to break the law, they have stated their plan to attack law enforcement if they're not allowed to break the law.
And they put it in writing.
I hope someone serves some jail time for this sort of bullshit because these right wing racists need to have this spelled out.
The guy should be charged with criminal harassment. He could also be charged with intimidation.

(28,784 posts)How paranoid do you have to be to believe what the guy says and make the effort to break the law in DC to do so? That right there makes you wonder about the mindset of someone who would advocate for such a thing.
And reality isn't on his side, as far as gun issues in the U.S.
marions ghost
(19,841 posts)I think I'll make it a point not to be in DC that day. Fireworks on the Mall anyone?
A bunch of angry militia men with loaded guns. If they pull this one off, I wonder how people attending those events can be warned?

Anti-government, check. He promoted both Tea Party and Occupy? Shows how nuts he is. The Tea Party and Occupy couldn't be more different. They don't support each other.

(53,661 posts)Adam Charles Kokesh (born February 1, 1982) is an American activist and talk radio host. Kokesh was a corporal in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and is a veteran of the Iraq War. He is an outspoken opponent of the U.S. military intervention in Iraq and has received media attention related to anti-war protest activities. He is the son of Charles Kokesh, a Santa Fe venture capitalist, founder of a firm called Technology Funding, and owner of the Santa Fe Horse Park...[2]
After returning from Iraq, Kokesh resumed his studies and completed his bachelor's degree in psychology at Claremont McKenna College. In February 2007, Kokesh became an active participant in the Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW). On March 19, 2007, to mark the 4th anniversary of the 2003 invasion of Iraq, Kokesh and 12 other Iraq Veterans Against the War members participated in an occupation-like mock patrol of Washington D.C.[15] Kokesh first came to national attention after he was interviewed on CNN and his photograph appeared in newspapers throughout the country, including the front page of the Los Angeles Times at a protest during Alberto Gonzales's testimony to Congress regarding the dismissal of U.S. attorneys. Kokesh, wearing his Marine Corps Boonie hat, held up a large sign counting the number of times Gonzalez said "I don't remember" or "I don't recall" (Kokesh claimed Gonzalez used such phrases 74 times).[16]
In April 2007 Kokesh and a number of other activists were arrested for protesting the Iraq war in the Senate Hart Office Building. Kokesh had performed a ceremony for lost service members using an American flag.[17][18][19]
In June 2007 Kokesh, along with IVAW members Liam Madden and Nate Lewis, were arrested for crossing onto the property of Fort Benning during an anti-war protest. A spokesperson for the IVAW said the three had accidentally stepped onto the base while talking to a guard. The trespass charges were dismissed.[20]
Kokesh enrolled in graduate studies in political management at George Washington University.[14] In October 2007, Kokesh, along with six other students, created controversy by putting up satirical political posters across the university campus. The posters featured a picture of a stereotypical Arab man and the headline "Hate Muslims? So do we!!!," with illustrative captions explaining that the typical Muslim is equipped with a venom-spouting mouth, laser-shooting eyes, and hidden AK-47's, among other parodical features. The poster was signed "Students for Conservativo-Fascism Awareness," and encouraged students to visit the right-wing website terrorismawareness.org. Kokesh and the six other students publicly admitted to responsibility amidst accusations that the poster was Islamophobic, maintaining that their intent was to spread awareness of what they considered to be the overtly racist intentions of the above-mentioned website's "Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week" organized by a conservative student organization and featuring David Horowitz.[21]
On September 2, 2008, Kokesh spoke at Representative Ron Paul's Rally for the Republic in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he stated, "While it is our responsibility now to resist tyranny civilly, while we still can, there may come a time when we will say to the powers that be, be it with your blood or ours we have come to water the tree of liberty who will stand with me?"
On September 4, 2008, Kokesh interrupted Senator John McCain's acceptance speech of the GOP nomination for President at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota. Holding a sign reading "McCain Votes Against Vets" on one side and "You can't win an occupation" on the other,[22] Kokesh yelled, "Ask him why he votes against vets!" A member of the audience grabbed the sign and tore it in two. Kokesh was released shortly after being detained by local police.[23]
On May 28, 2011, Kokesh and other activists participated in a flash mob-silent dance at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C. in protest of a recent ruling against dancing in the monument; the activists were arrested by force.[24] A much larger protest the following Saturday, June 4, 2011, organized by Kokesh and Code Pink, involved about 200 protesters and 75 dancers. About 10 minutes after the dancing began, police began clearing the monument.[25] No arrests were made. When asked by a journalist if he had a permit to protest, Kokesh reportedly produced a copy of the Constitution and said, "Actually I got a permit. It's the same one I swore an oath to when I enlisted in the Marine Corps. And it says something about 'freedom of assembly.' Which means you don't need permission from anybody to come together and speak your mind."[26] In a 2009 interview he expressed discomfort when told about positive comments about him on the Stormfront website.[27]
In 2010, Adam Kokesh attempted to unseat Democratic representative Ben Ray Luján in New Mexico's heavily Democratic 3rd congressional district running as a libertarian-oriented Republican.[28] Kokesh received mostly out-of-state money,[28] support from Ron Paul,[29] and an endorsement from the Republican Liberty Caucus, the organization that represents the libertarian wing of the Republican Party.[30] Kokesh's opponent in the New Mexico GOP primary was Tom Mullins[31] to whom he lost.[32]
Beginning in July 2010 Kokesh hosted a talk radio program called Adam vs. The Man which aired weekdays from the studios of 1550 KRKE in Albuquerque, New Mexico.[33] In April 2011 his show was picked up by Russia Today television network ("RT" .[34] Accuracy in Media criticized Kokesh's appearing on RT, a non-profit organization which largely is funded by the Russian government.[35] The group wrote that RT uses Americans like Kokesh to make propaganda points.[36] David Weigel writes that Kokesh defended RT's "propaganda" function, saying "We're putting out the truth that no one else wants to say. I mean, if you want to put it in the worst possible abstract, it's the Russian government, which is a competing protection racket against the other governments of the world, going against the United States and calling them on their bullshit."[37]
In a June show Kokesh endorsed support and fundraising for Ron Paul's 2012 presidential campaign, leading to a complaint to the Federal Election Commission charging a political contribution had been made by a foreign corporation. Kokesh denied his cancellation in August was related to the complaint.[38]
Kokesh has continued his Adam vs. The Man video reports independently on YouTube, noting he was "fired from my only radio and TV gigs."[39] On the channel he has filed some critical reports of the "Occupy DC" version of the Occupy Wall Street movement.[40][41]

This quote is interesting: "...he promoted both the Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street in a worldview that some sociologists describe as fusion paranoia, a visceral anti-governmentalism that isnt limited to typical left-right divides."
Which begs the question: just how "non-violent" can he be trusted to be, given the language he uses?

I would immediately start arranging meetings with our European allies on how to take advantage of this right wing lose of control. We can also use it to finally introduce the social suppression their ideology deserves. Nothing like east coast soccer Moms seeing this on Good Morning America.
