...here's your latest installment:
Lindsay Lohan's whereabouts were unknown Thursday hours after her attorney told a judge that the troubled actress had checked into a rehab facility only to later learn that the starlet apparently never checked in for treatment.
Lohan's lawyer and publicist did not return messages Thursday seeking comment about the actress' decision to quickly leave a rehab facility that a state official said is not licensed to perform the type of restrictive in-patient treatment a judge sentenced her to undergo.
The Los Angeles Times reported Thursday evening that a prosecutor said Lohan was apparently in violation of her probation after spending only a few minutes at Morningside Recovery in Newport Beach.

When will the madness end???

(14,400 posts)one of these days and it's a real shame.
She needs to come to terms with the seriousness of her addiction and deal with it soon or she's as good as dead.

(15,222 posts)And I think the judicial system is letting her down in a way by not forcing her into compliance with the terms of her many probations.
Most (but not all) of the judges that she's been before seem a little starstruck.
She's a talented actress, and I'd rather see her in jail for a time than read about her being found dead in a seedy hotel.

But MANY of us are recovering, and it CAN be done, even though we're each convinced that nobody else's addiction is as strong, and that nobody can REALLY understand what we're going through.
She has gotten away with far more than the rest of us would have been able to, and it's only prolonged her suffering and practice as an addict. It has got to stop. She has got to be stopped.
She needs to be kept away from drugs for a LONG time. It will take a while for her to heal, but there's so much help available to her.
Like a couple have said -- the other end to this story is we'll hear she's been found dead.

The ones who end up dead obviously couldn't. She is heading that way very painfully. We can only hope and pray she doesn't but that, if she does, she doesn't take anyone else with her first.

(85,998 posts). . . pawing all over her life as if there was something substantive and revealing about this person's life to be gleaned from a news report.
What a weak report it is, to use it to portray the actress as out of control and near some sort of celebrity sized od. What a crock. She's likely looking for a suitable facility and will smooth all of this court nonsense out. In my experience, they have no regard at all for how a person is supposed to make a living and comply with every instance of their orders. In my opinion, they've had their claws in her long enough.

(180 posts)I sure hope you meant a sarcasm tag or something after this... otherwise its just complete horseshit... the fact that this is happening in the public eye has long been her and her families doing, this isnt the first, or even 10th time... And if she was looking for a suitable facility wouldn't her representation know it
bigtree
(85,998 posts). . . certainly not, if you got your information from news reports. You act as if you saw her on the street or something. This kind of judgmental voyeurism is sickening.

How many times have we read posts concerning 'old white men', their privilege, and how they run/ruin the country. Here is a young white woman who has screwed up many, many times - and she is defended by many.
Her court appearance in March was her 20th court appearance.
Has had multiple run-ins with the law for various reasons including theft, assault, violation of probation, driving under the influence, etc
Has had access to some of the finest treatment for substance abuse money can buy, and has disregarded it.
Has had jail time measured in minutes.
How many folks (especially young black ones) with similar crimes - VOP, theft, DUI, etc. - have been sentenced to years rather than minutes.
Has flaunted her celebrity status to her advantage. And yet, continues to have supporters who can see no wrong, but will take every opportunity to cast aspersions at those who are in disfavor with those same supporters for quite similar transgressions.
Think I'll go look up 'hypocrisy' now, because that surely is what it sounds like. But obviously, YMMV.

(180 posts)thats very funny, you are judging me (who has had a brother in rehab SEVERAL times) and complaining about people judging her. SHE made this a public a long ago, many, many other people and celebs have quietly gone about it but she and her family relishes in the press.. you reap what you sow..
bigtree
(85,998 posts). . . and it appears that you're judging her (at least here) by reports from a tabloid press. What sort of cockamamie rehab effort operates like that? How can you know anything substantive about this woman from these news reports to make these judgments about her need for rehab?
She relishes this? Really? Quite a perspective you've got there.

I ask you - How can you know anything substantive about this woman from these news reports to make these judgments about her need for "suitable" rehab?
Do you know Lohan? Does she call you at home?
bigtree
(85,998 posts). . . Morningside wasn't credentialed and the court determined her sentence. The rehab will evaluate whatever 'need' she has for their services. Impossible to do from here. This is about complying with the court. Turning it into a fantasy drama of your own making about a supposedly sordid substance-addled life she's supposed to be leading is sickening.
Completely under your hair.

(94,602 posts)From the NY Daily News:
Turns out LiLo drove to the vicinity of the facility, but she never went in. Instead, she went shopping at an electronics store in Fountain Valley, Calif.
And a source told the Daily News that when she bolted, Lohan threatened to fly back to New York.
How many fourth chances should a washed up celebrity get?
bigtree
(85,998 posts). . . I wager her life would look like the rest of ours if she was able to get out of this court's paternal grip and have a fucking drink without having to knuckle under to a stint in rehab.
"a source told the Daily News" OMFG!
Get off of this woman's life. Quit dragging her name through this forum with this sensationalized drivel.

(37,748 posts)My pals and I pulled pretty much those same kinds of stunts when we were young. A best bud was scheduled for rehab three time, but sidestepped it in each instance.
Good thing I was just some guy rather than a superstar with people following my every move, as my sins were all forgotten as quickly as they happened.

(62,683 posts)Finally (I don't know how many she'd had by then) she was busted again and said "There's no way I will go to another treatment facility -- send me to jail." Her family was horrified but she was adamant. She served a YEAR, came out sober and has stayed sober ever since.
I don't think the 30 -- or even 60 -- day stint is long enough for some. You have to live for a while clean and sober without looking at the calendar knowing "it's not much longer until I'm out".
Yeah, Downey is a good example. He seemed like a lost cause, too.

(985 posts)Lindsay Lohan is unforgivably cruel to Lindsay Lohan. She has become a shining example of how dangerous it can be for some people to become rich. If you are self-destructive by nature, unlimited means make you unlimited in your ability to self-destruct.
I had a roommate who told me he never played the lottery, not because he knew he wouldn't win, but because he was afraid of what would happen if by some miracle he would. He knew he would drink himself to death in a matter of a year/a month/a week/a day, if he weren't limited by the amount of money he had to spend on booze.
It makes me think of this song by Aimee Mann, who served as the principle inspiration for P.T. Anderson's film Magnolia:
It's not
What you thought
When you first began it
You got
What you want
Now you can hardly stand it though,
By now you know
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
'Til you wise up
You're sure
There's a cure
And you have finally found it
You think
One drink
Will shrink you 'til you're underground
And living down
But it's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
'Til you wise up
Prepare a list of what you need
Before you sign away the deed
'Cause it's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
'Til you wise up
No, it's not going to stop
'Til you wise up
No, it's not going to stop
So just...give up
