enterprise?) have been declared innocent of any crime. Yet, they have been wrongfully detained by Bush's war criminal administration for years, tortured, never charged, never prosecuted, never found guilty of anything. They are supposed to be released. Hundreds of the supposedly 'most dangerous men in the world' according to war criminal Bush, have already been released, but they were INNOCENT.

I hope you are not saying that you support this blight on the US, because if you are, I have nothing more to say to you. An institution that will go down in history the same way Saddam's torture chambers, and the Soviet Union's Gulags, and the Nazi prisons went down. God, I hope no one claiming to be a democrat could ever support such a vile institution. Even military prosecutors have quit their posts because of their consciences stating that the people they were supposed to prosecute were INNOCENT.

What happened to DU?

I do not support GITMO; but if you wish to take a position, at least get your facts right ... None of the detainees/prisoners "have been delcared innocent of any crime." The only statement(s) released about them is: 1) There is not sufficient evidence to prosecute them. Funny thing about our system of justice ... it leaves us vulnerable when people don't play by our rules ... each and everyone of those detainees could say on a daily basis, "I hate the U.S.A and her people and I swear on all that's holy that the moment I am released, I will do everything in my power to kill as many Americans as I can."

2) they are considered too dangerous to the United States, i.e., her people, to release. And after as many as 10 years, that is not hard to believe; but I refer you to my editorial comment under statement 1.

And, 3) the detainees/prisoners cannot be sent anywhere because no country will take them. So the question remains, release them to where?

What happened to DU?

I would suggest, as of late, it has morphed into "Progressive/Libertarian Underground."

investigation, interrogation, torture, starvation, tauntings, etc etc, then they ARE innocent. WE are the guilty ones. Most of those in Gitmo (and many have been released and have told their personal stories which should horrify any decent human being) were bought from bounty hunters to fill Cheney's Gulag and to scare US into supporting his illegal and criminal war. He USED human beings to further his evil cause and we thought once we were rid of those war criminals, some of those injustices were corrected and the criminals held accountable.

Those people are not 'too dangerous to release in the US', CHENEY AND BUSH and their war-mongering supporters are dangerous, loose in the US. What did any of those detainees do to us? Many of them did not even know why there was a foreign army in their country.

We had children there, we had eight year old shepherds, scooped up and sold to the US to fill that disgusting place for SHOW.

DU has been infiltrated by Third Wayers who will excuse anything that benefits the ruling class and it has been eye-opening, as more and more progressives go elsewhere where they are among Democrats who adhere to Democratic principles no matter WHO is in office. I never remember a single person even try to defend that place, try to excuse it, or express anything but disgust that it existed in this country.

The place is a crime in action. And more and more of those released from it have been no threat to us, other than telling the truth about their horrific experiences there.

People are now dying there in desperation. Why is this happening in our name??? I cannot believe what has become of this country. To have zero concern for those desperate human beings is simply shameful. Cheney must be smiling as he sees 'the Left' come over to his way of thinking. I guess he knew once there was a Dem in office, all the screaming about his criminal activities would fade away.

when you demonstrated that you know nothing of standards/burdens of proof to support prosecutions. I will restate reality ...

And there still would not be sufficient basis to prosecute them; but plenty of reason to believe them.

But were they cleared to be released; or, cleared as in not enough evidence to pr? There is a difference.
