Because the Republicans have turned over their media relations to the producers at FOX News. The extremists are now running the Republican Party. Hush up Palin? She was the second most recent Republican nominee for President. She was replaced by Ryan this last round--and, let's face it, he was pretty much her equal in all areas right-wing. The Republicans are listening to these people.
These people are our opposites, and they are actively working to destroy Democracy and replace it with a theocracy. I don't want to turn my back on them for one minute.
So, thank you DU, for constantly reminding me about the horrible yang that is out there balancing my lovely yin. I love hanging in here and talking about the warm and fuzzies but I need you all to educate me on the enemy. And that means listening to what they say.
No slam to those who can't stand reading about them...but, please, as Todd Akin showed us, the words of the rightwingers are very often their undoing. We don't share their words, then nobody hears their plans.

I just need to be careful with how I use it. 
I found it several months ago with a Google image search. I used it once... in Meta.
I wouldn't want to search for a cute pic for "douchebag". I can't imagine it would be successful.
