I see threads with headlines, Alex Jones says this---or Ann Coulter says that--- I don't even click.... because it's the same rehashed shit scraped from the gutters of their sick minds.

Thu May 2, 2013, 10:51 AM

We've got the corporate "right-wing media" (corporate right), then we've got the corporate left. The corporate right puts their talking points out there, and they've got their audience. The corporate left, MSNBC, sometimes CNN serves as their echo chamber, so anyone who missed what right-wing fools say, can then hear it on the corporate left.

I've emailed them asking them to not put them on the left. We don't watch it, and realize they are full of __it. We don't want to hear these idiots on our slightly more legitimate stations, ones on the corporate left, that still omit a lot of issues that should be the province of the left, like anti-death penalty, talk about jobs, about why stopping democratic policy making has hurt jobs, about getting out of war and the over-burdening MIC in the first place.

But that is why they are the corporate left, MSNBC and such. They echo news on the right, in case you don't bother, and then they obfuscate the issues that hurt corporations, like any anti-globalization talk, or how shipping 35 million jobs away has hurt unions, wages, and more than anything, had a terrible effect on our country's debt.

They vote against:

public schools (gay, socialist, Obama loving indoctrination camps!),

police and fire services (they are coming to get you!),

women's rights and same sex marriage (UN plan to reduce our numbers, killing us off!),

gun control of any kind (all the better to haul you off to the FEMA camps!),

parks, roads, bridges, water plants, rail, mass transit, (UN plot - Agenda 21!),

anything to do with health care (they're giving you cancer with your shots, trying to sterilize you, turn men into women and make you dumb and servile!).

And they vote for:

privatizing everything,

ending a woman's right to choose and birth control,

ending the separation of church and state,

and whatever else you can think of that represents the New Deal (because FDR was a stealth commie who enslaved us all!)

Yes, we need to know why our country is going batshit. If you can't talk their lingo and try to reason with them - because they are bringing fascism, they'll just do it anyway.

For some reason, they seem to think we're entertained by that. When I watch MSNBC, I have to DVR the show so that I can FF past any segment containing Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, or Fox & Friends. The best advertisers for the stupidity that passes for rightwing media, ironically, is leftwing media. I'm convinced that these guys get kickbacks for promoting those assholes. If I were remotely interested in what was being said on rightwing talk radio, or Fox News, I have a radio and a teevee of my own. I don't tune in to progressive media to hear or see that crap.

Hi to you!

I love reading abot conspiracy theories. I don't believe anything I read, but even if I'm not a -guvment's always bad- libertarian I don't always trust gouvernements or the uber rich.

I used ot listen to Jones a while ago and he was a little more rationnal but never hid his right wing ideas. I'm not right wing at all but I don't discredit everything that comes out from the mouth of a right winger.

Somethings Jones says are accurate. His solution is insane. But I fear that the debatte about conspiracy theories is not either; ALl conspiracy theorist are like Jones and they need to stfu. Or All event are gouvernment made, like the Jones follower like to say.

So if you mean that we should never think there are conspiracies, is dansgerous in my opnion.

Have a nice day.

REASON FOR ALERT:

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. (See <a href="http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=aboutus#communitystandards" target="_blank">Community Standards</a>.)

ALERTER'S COMMENTS:

As well as seeming to defend right wing conspiracy theories, this looks like either a zombie, sock or a sockzombie that needs to be checked out by MIRT:

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Wed May 1, 2013, 06:10 PM, and the Jury voted 1-5 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Will you get a grip? All this post says is that it is dangerous to dismiss all questioning of government as CT...nothing more nothing less. If this is the worst a zombie can do or say, perhaps we need more zombies...dead_head certainly makes more sense than this ridiculous alert! MIRT has enough to do checking out truly offensive zombies.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: He is correct, conspiracies can and have been developed and it is necessary to discern which are bogus
and which are not. He states he does not agree with RW political views, wait and see how he posts.
Can be kept on a watch basis considering his low post count.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Feel free to alert MIRT, but I didn't see anything in THIS post that violates the rules.

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

Head-in-the-sand approaches are just that - or maybe worse - like one's head being somewhere else. Imagine trying to block out any news of what was going on in Europe 70-some years ago. Actually, that was sort of the official approach - termed "isolationism".

I do find these fringe luminaries to be amusing in their loonieness, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't be aware of what they're saying. After all, they're WHERE THEY ARE because there's folks who've empowered them to their position. If they got THAT far, how much farther could they get if everyone who found them offensive just stuck their collective heads in the sand???

Nah, the world's yet to achieve "perfect" status. Once some cataclysmic event wipes out all humanity, it'll return to an Eden. In the meantime, I like folks hollering out "SNAKE!" when they see one.

SHOW their fans or their advertisers what nastiness they are supporting. Some like such ugliness, but some are totally oblivious until massive petitions are presented about not supporting such stuff. The advertising boycotts got Beck off of TV. But if we had not had ammunition to show his advertisers what he was spewing, those advertisers would not have abandoned him.

I don't listen, read or watch any right-wing so-called news. However, I have a few right-wing friends and I appreciate information I get from DU on the lunatic fringe so I have some idea how to counter what my friends say. Often, if it weren't for DU, I would have no idea what my right-wing friends are talking about and would have no response other than "BS". But DU gives me ammunition and foreknowledge. So, like I said, I know that's a minority opinion, but I'm glad to learn these things here rather than to have to search these clowns out for myself.

It can get to be too much, for sure. Limbaugh in particular is so grotesque just hearing his self-satisfied torture of reality into new reasons to hate the non-rich-white-guy elements of the world can be sickening.

But we can't ignore them. Like it or not, the Limbaughs and Alex Jones' of the world are exerting social and political pressure, to not insignificant success, pushing the cultural framework in the hideous directions they favor. I think Limbaugh alone has a lot to do with solidifying the image of the poor as entitled layabouts, waiting by the mailbox for a government check.

If we don't look at it and respond, we embolden and empower it. Every time a Rachel Maddow arches a quizzical eyebrow and giggles at these purveyors of the lowest human impulses, they deflate a little. We need that. We need to remind people that crazy doesn't have to be the new normal.

A lie repeated becomes the truth.

I agree completely. These 3, and many others - Hannity, Limbaugh, Beck, Savage - I could go on, but you know who they are, have signed on to a phenomenon long recognized and practiced by charlatans of every stripe. A 'religious' figure who presides over a 'mega-church' can live like a prince. The above-named individuals live like kings. So-called news media trot them out on a regular basis to sell 'newspapers'. 'Newspapers' of today post the garbage that comes out of their mouths in videos that begin with an ad, usually around 30 seconds, for which they are paid for each viewing. It is cynicism on steroids and is reprehensible. They know it is not going away and they suffer no repercussions for disseminating this garbage. A miniscule percentage of the population of this country can deliver big bucks.

One only has to visit their favorite reporting site, for example, Democratic Underground, and join in the fray by reading the comments, many of which contain links that are clicked on, and the process continues and feeds on itself. Hey, it is freedom of speech and who could be against that? Facebook and Twitter do their part, as well, and their founders are multi-billionaires, not because they offer a service that is beneficial, but because it works to enrich them.

If you don't know what the other side is saying it is very difficult to argue that they are wrong, you need to know how shitty their argument is in order to explain how shitty it is.

I am interested in knowing about the craziness coming from the right however so I will continue to read the threads about it and maybe post a few of my own. If you are not interested don't click on the thread, just understand that some of us do find those threads valuable and respect that we want to know about what the opposition is up to.

And their talking points get posted ad nauseum all over the internets. I like knowing so I can form a counter argument. And I get better talking points here than anywhere.

It's something I actually appreciate about DU. But if you don't like it, then don't click on those threads. Seems simple enough.

The worst thing about those "pond scum douchebags," people start to believe them. They end up re-electing George W. Bush. We have to remember they convinced people to vote for him -- and he claimed victory twice. I don't think ignoring is a good idea. Better to tell the truth. Ann Coulter uses race and class as wedge issues to divide us all; Alex Jones makes up very elaborate conspiracy theories in an attempt to prove someone is plotting at the highest levels of the government to take our freedom and our guns; Michele Malkin -- oh crap -- I don't know what the hell she does -- give all Asians a bad name by siding with the imperialist running dog capitalists over the downtrodden worker everytime? Don't you think we need to challenge them?

...I think it's important to continue to push back against these douchebags - because whether we like it or not, they still hold sway over certain sectors of public opinion, and thus have an impact on policy and decision making. They aren't relevant to US, but they are relevant to their fanbases, and as long as they are, they can't be ignored.

I choose not to live in a world where RW talking points are the center of the debate. Lately I have trouble watching Jon Stewart because of his obsession with Fox News. 'Fox News said something stupid' ? yes. and water is still wet.

2. Linking to their content or clips from their content is a way to post RW talking points on DU. If the poster says 'check this out, I like it' they get tombstoned but if the poster presents it in the context of 'this is outrageous' then the content stays (!?) It is the same crap!

Winston Churchill said "A lie can get halfway around the world before the truth can get its pants on" and many here are helping the lies travel. They don't think of it that way but IMHO they are. Don't send the lie around the world -- let it rot unnoticed in its fox hole.

You don't have to go into the outhouse to know that it stinks.

self-identifying Dems who are addicted to Fox "News" and hate Radio. I will never understand it. As for "know you enemy", they spew the same choreographed bullshit every day. I don't need 15 bulletins per day to know that.

I gave up on that a while ago tho - probably around the time there was so much talk of Sarah Palin , from her glasses to her asses to DU men saying they would 'do her' (ugh - even tho she is the vile pos she is, apparently that doesn't matter as long as she has a vagina to put things into), revealed a lot about this place. I probably chirped in about what a useless jerk she is a lot of times but it gets tired after a while and you move on and hopefully learn some things that hopefully don't make you dumber.
