a very good friend on their child coming out that their daughter had not changed one bit. The only thing that had changed was their perception of her and that was just because of an ill conceived categorization. She was still the same daughter they had loved and raised from birth. She had not changed.
It's not always a walk in the park due to some stupid, misguided societal and religious norms but it had a happy ending and they are still a happy, loving, close family. As it should be.
Someone coming out as gay certainly does not change them and it should not change our attitude toward them. I'll be charitable and say, that is just silly.
